We recently organized a local workshop on Urban Gardening, where participants learned how to grow their own food in small urban spaces. The workshop focused on balkon gardening, permaculture principles, and composting, making it easier for city dwellers to practice sustainable agriculture.
During the workshop, we introduced participants to practical gardening techniques that can be applied even in limited spaces:
🌿 Container Gardening & Vertical Farming – We demonstrated how to use pots, recycled containers, and vertical structures to grow herbs and vegetables in small balconies and windowsills. Participants planted basil, lettuce, and cherry tomatoes, taking their first step toward homegrown food.
🌱 Composting for Beginners – Understanding the importance of reducing food waste, we taught attendees how to create their own compost using kitchen scraps. They learned how composting not only enriches soil but also helps reduce organic waste.
🍃 Permaculture & Natural Pest Control – Participants explored the basics of permaculture gardening and discovered natural methods to keep their plants healthy without harmful pesticides.
🌻 Hands-on Planting Activity – Each participant had the chance to plant seeds and seedlings, which they took home to nurture and grow.
The workshop provided a great opportunity to reconnect with nature, even in an urban setting. By the end of the session, participants felt more confident in starting their own small gardens, making fresh, homegrown food a part of their sustainable lifestyle.
With small steps like these, we are creating a greener, healthier urban environment—one plant at a time! 🌍💚
